I was inspired by your post yesterday to watch some you tube videos on how to get your hair white/platinum. Some of the ladies had used the manic panic stuff and the results looked good. One girl from the UK used powder bleach (the type you mix up with peroxide yourself) along with the manic panic and she swore by it. So i have bought a pack of this powder bleach from boots. It comes in a box with four sachets. As i have short hair, one sachet at a time should be fine for me so it works out really cheap. I will also order some manic panic this afternoon. Hopefully the results will be good. if not - my hair grows out so quick, it won't be a huge disaster...
As for bleaching my hair at home. it is easier than tinting it - less messy. you just have to be willing to give it plenty of time. Also use a really good conditioner between stages.0 -
I'd be way to scared to try and bleach my own hair but mine's quite dark to begin with and has a tendency to go orange - plus I have highlights which is a bit more fiddly!0

I do my own highlights using goldwell topchic colourant, they do highlight 11 and 12 shades which have even greater blonding effects. You can combine them with goldwell blonding or blondish ash creme for a lift of 6 levels with excellent results- no brassiness at all!
I've been lightening my own hair for 7 years and have had the best results using professional prodcuts bought from Sallys, ebay and amazon. It takes a bit of googling to find the best products for your hair type and colour but it's so worth it. They're also much less damaging on your hair than box dyes and bleaches. Whilst my hair got pretty frazzled at times using stuff from Boots, my hair is now in lovely condition (aided by using professional conditioning masks too!).Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
Hi all,
Just wanted to keep you updated on this.
So the Manic Panic toner came through really quickly and I tried it out on the Saturday night. At first I was actually really disappointed as it didn't really seem to do much. I plastered it on, rubbed it all the way to the roots (it tells you not to do this but hey ho) and left it for 30 minuts as per the pot's instructions. When I washed it off I couldn't really tell that I had done anything and it certainly wasn't the snow white promised on the website.
Anyway, I had my hair bleached and toned at the hairdressers the other day and, again, she couldn't get it as white as I wanted. As an aside, I am starting to think maybe this isn't her fault- she is plastering the stuff on, using the highest volume of everything she can get and leaving it for ages! Anyway, so a few days later I decided to try the Manic Panic stuff again but this time I left it on for an hour and it was absolutely great. My hair came out snow white and it even caught the yellow-y roots really well. So I don't know whether it was the fact that I'd just had it bloeached or the fact that I left it on for an hour that helped!!
My plan is to use the stuff again in a few weeks when it starts to fade and leave it for an hour again so I can let you know how I get on.
I did try to take pictures to show you all but you couldn't really pick up my colour properly
Thanks again for all of your help with this'I can't deny the British influence on my accent and mannerisms, but I don't know the British national anthem, I didn't weep for Princess Diana and I always cheer when Britain loses at sport. That's how British I am' Constantine-Simms. :T
