No problem then. If they took any direct debit payments after that date, you are entitled to a full and immediate refund from your bank under the direct debit guarantee scheme. You can also get advice from BACS...

You can also call BACS for advice about what to do if the bank won't give you a refund on 020 7711 6370 although last time I did this, it was just a recording to use the 0870 165 0018 number
