in Credit cards
Hi,
I am not sure what I can or should do now. I have quite a few cards:eek: and quite a balance on them:eek: ie Halifax £7,500 Lloyds £3,400 Barclays £5,000 and Tesco £1,200. All are running out of their interest free deals in Dec/Jan and I don't know what I can do now.
I earn quite a bit (just above bracket of higher rate earner), am home owner (the balances on my cards are due to the massive refurbishment) but on the other hand the amount of outstanding debt seems too big for anything new to be approved.
I have tried negotiation of interest with current lenders and in all cases 'computer said no'.
Has anyone got any suggestion which lender I could ask for a new card with good offer? I looked at Virgin offer but I am worried they will reject me.
I would appreciate any help x

Does anyone know how good the credit rating has to be for Virgin card?

Very good with virgin (the odd historic late payment may not be an issue but not lots and nothing like defaults, ccjs etc).
Your main barrier (assuming a clean credit history) will probably be the existing level of debts you have.
All you can do is apply and see - they might reject you but one application on your file isn't going to make much difference. If you are accepted Virgin do tend to give higher limits than some other cards.
If you aren't accepted all you can do is focus on paying off your cards as quick as you can, focusing on the most expensive first.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
