I didn't notice this in the terms and conditions, so just did it. I opened a new online saver 2 account last month, & transfered my balance to it online. Then I phoned them to close the old account and transfer the interest owing to the new one. Apparently the old account can only be closed by phone, they give you an 0845 number for calls from the UK, but you can ring them on a normal (cheaper) number by using the number they give for calls from abroad 02476 555255
Beware that account closure counts as another withdrawal, and you are only allowed 4 without loss of interest.

I have read in the terms and conditions for Online Saver (3) account that "you are not permitted to open any further Online Saver (3) account or any further issues of the Online Saver account either solely or jointly".

Is this equivalent to buying a Ford Escort Mark 1 and being banned from buy any future versions of Ford Escort car?
Can you honestly sell new cars on this business model.

Do you think the financial ombudsman would consider this a fair product to offer to the public given its lifetime ban on customers?
At the very least they should put this ban on their main highlights of the product so customers are aware of this restriction.
