Ex impacting on creditworthiness!!

Evening all.

I've lurked, read and posted enough to know that credit scores are meaningless, however, I have kind of a linked question.

I'm working hard at cleaning my act up after some financial delinquency culminating in 3 defaults, April 2009.

After 2 years pestering ex has signed relevant paperwork to remove me from a (dormant) HBOS account last used in 2005. (Our last financial link). This has been done - I've checked.

I've just now filed a Notice of Financial Disassociation with all 3 CRAs.

If (as I suspect) his credit files are even worse than mine with ongoing issues (he hasn't seen the light) then how much of a positive impact would disassociation have on my own file?

Since the defaults I've a string of greens across the board (though I appreciate they will impact for another 3 years plus).

Thanks,
BiB

my OH's credit was (& is) really bad. I was refused a credit card some time ago because of a long forgotten joint account. Since I put the notice of disassociation on I have had no problem.

So long as you have joint financial products your accounts will be linked - how much yours will improve once he's disassociated from you? Anyones guess I'm afraid - it's all down to how bad his is and loads of other bits - only thing to do is wait and see! :)

I was in the same boat. MY ex had a horrendous credit file with CCJs and all sorts, where as mine was fine. I could'nt get any decent credit because of him had to go to the likes of Welcome finance ). Soon after the disassociation was applied I was accepted for a 5k loan with Barclays! It definitely makes a difference.
