Have you had a look at your Experian credit report (30 day free trial)?

I have two suggestions for you. Firstly, if you have a mortgage and run your own business I assume you have a bank account. Apply for a credit card from your bank. If your bank refuses you a card, challenge them. Tell them your salary is paid into your account, a mortgage direct debit is paid regularly from your account etc etc so why can't they let you have a credit card even with a small limit?

Suggestion number two would be to apply for a card to one of the so-called sub-prime lenders just to get a card, use it and pay it off each month in order to establish a credit history.

Can you perhaps be more specific about your keep getting turned down? What sort of things have you been turned down for?
