Does anyone know the trade value of a Mercedes Sprinter 311 cdi LWB
2001/51, 87,000 miles, MOT sept 2012, FSH (just been serviced), one company owner, light use only (not courier), not mint, few bumps and scrapes (parking). Oh, and it's white and not signwritten.
Thanks for reading.

Plenty around for less than that sort of money.

There may be plenty around for that price but id bet they have at least 150k on the clock, nothing really for these engines but clutch and flywheel time in nigh. 86k is really low for a van of this year so another 150k+ left in the motor.

We think it's got full MB service history as well, just been serviced yesterday.

Check autotrader, Plenty under £2000 for that year even with less than 100,000 miles.

I would rather buy one with 200,000 miles but i good condition than something a bit tattier with 50,000
miles on it. Few bumps and scrapes? Doesnt sound that well looked after.

Mileage is not everything. I would prefer something thats gone from london to scotland everyday than one
thats spent 14 hours a day driving around london. In mostly 1st and 2nd gear.

  • I can't find a single sprinter 311 lwb van on autotrader for less than £2000. The cheapest one is £2150 with 197,000 miles. There’s only about another 3 or 4 on autotrader for under £2500, all with well over 150,000 miles in average condition.

There’s plenty of older 312 models or plenty of medium wheelbase vans which are cheaper as they are nowhere near as desirable as the long wheelbase.

Its the age that will let you down there. People will read 51 plate and then work out its done around 8,000m a year, which is local mileage which equals more wear and tear on gears, engine, etc.

The low mileage equates to it not being used a lot, not short runs. The condition equates to it not being an owner driver, who tend to look after them better.
We are hoping to get it for £1000 or less, I just wanted to make sure we wouldn't be paying over the odds.

if you could get it for a grand or less then you would be getting a real bargain in my book.
