Car repair guarantee

On 10th December last year I had the power steering pump replaced on my car. The other day it went again.
I currently have it in another garage waiting to be fixed as it was my o/h who remembered it had been repaired previously.
If the garage where it currently sits (not the one who did it previously) repairs the pump can I do anything to get the money back from the other garage as the part had a years guarantee on it.
Due to the steering being faulty I didn't want to risk driving to the same garage so opted for the one on the back of my flat.
As its still guaranteed I don't see why I should have to pay the for the repair.
Can someone let me know what to do. I have written a note to the garage where it is being fixed explaining the situation and to hold off repairs until we say so (even though I told them to start). They said it wouldn't be started until tomorrow.
Sorry for the way this is sounding, I am typing as I am thinking but advice would be appreciated.

Tricky. Your contract for the new part is with the previous garage. So you need to give them the opportunity to provide a remedy. Call the current garage and ask them to not do any work (other than I assume they have diagnosed the fault). Then call the previous garage, explain the situation, where the car is and ask them how they'd like to proceed with respect to providing a remedy.
Other than that, I'd wait for someone else to reply that may have a better idea about such situations.0 -
As we stand at the moment I got the call from the "new" garage and they said they were getting the part in and that they would get the car back to me tomorrow so I am guessing they haven't started yet. As they are on the back of my flat I went round there and posted a note explaining the situation and to call me in the morning. I am hoping they will call so we can hold the repairs and then speak to the other garage who originally made the repair. Didn't realise until tonight the pump also went the previous June. Fiesta power steering pumps are flimsy (or bad workmanship)0

They may have already stripped it out ready to swap, Or they sent yours off for exchange or to be rebuilt.
