I need a new laptop.
For those of you who have been to Hong Kong, am I better to buy one when I go there, or is there not much difference in price?
Many thanks in advance.

it is cheaper in HK but you need to know how to haggle or know what you want to get. laptop from HK probably wont have the UK keyboard, so you wont get the £ key. also consider the warranty, unless it is a worldwide warranty.
just as a guide, have a look at https://www.centralfield.com.0 -
Many thanks Durain.0

Hi
Have just got back from Hong Kong - in general we found the prices to be good for electronics probably about the same as here but less the VAT. The only trouble is that I would not like to be hit for the VAT through customs on the way back into the UK. That said, there was absolutely no-one in customs when I returned.
I was only in Hong Kong for a short time and did not have time to venture out to the shops where most of the locals live/shop and only really checked around Causeway Bay/Kowloon areas where rents are quite high. I think that you might be able to get considerably cheaper further afield (see the old Hong Kong advice thread).
As for the Uk keyboard, I am sure that you might be able to find one to UK spec as they have massive choice and seem to have everything!!
I bought a very cheap laptop from Dell UK just before going to Hong Kong and took it with me and did not regret it.
Have a great time!!Total for 2009: L'Oreal Lip Duo, Diary, Motability Guide
Thanks to everyone who post comps - you are all :cool2:0 -
Thanks a lot for your input.
I might look at a Dell before I go.

I came home on monday and the laptop prices were very good with about 20-25% saving It will depend on how much you want to spend and what model you like, but do your home work before you go.UK keyboards were not a problem but the shop might not have it in stock but will get it for you or tell you which shop has stock.Just dont leave it till the last few hours like me and miss a good deal0
