Barclaycard Cold Call

Just to let you guys know BC are calling those of us who had egg cards and have not yet used our new BC card. The guy called asked me for security to check i had got my card and pin because i hadn't use it...

Erm maybe cause i dont need / want to?? :rotfl:

yeah he called from 08454347568 which when you call back says it BC

Did you verify the number before ringing back from an independent source?

They emailed me asking too, email said they may ring to check I had received it if it wasn't used in next couple of days!

I've been receiving these calls as well. I must have had 20 calls over the last two weeks from this number.

I'm using my card already - why are they bothering me? Egg never did this.

Well just give the card up and that will stop the calls.

You really think so? You could set up a number and answer it as anything you like, doesn't make it real.

I've just had a call from 0845 4347568 making out they're Barclaycard trying to deal with a technical issue on the new contactless payment system. They ask initially for you to confirm your year of birth & your postcode & say that they will need additional security information as they go through the issue with you.

I have confirmed with Barclaycard that this is NOT a genuine Barclaycard number & that Barclaycard would not ask for information like this as they already know it. The caller tries to reassure you that you can check he is genuine by calling him back on the number he's used & saying once he gets your call he will then phone you back so you incur no expense.

Barclaycard said not to give out any information that includes account details, but added that as a professional company they always cover you for calls like this, so not to worry.
