Not sure if this is new info or not but I just rang the ring 'n reserve number in Ireland (using call1899) and it gave the "today's price" in euros rather than £'s. Seem to remember it used to be £'s back in October 2004.0

i'm a bit new to all this argos RO stuff and just wondered if someone could help me. I'm after a new digital camera and have seen a sony one on the latest RO list on the Lowes family site. The code is 560 2386. I've tried entering this onto the online checker on the website but it won't come up with anything. The ring and reserve line is completely infuriating as you have to try all differnt store codes! Can someone explain the best way to hunt down the camera?

You could always try ringing their customer services and ask if they can find any - in the past they have been able to check all stores on their computers to see if an item is available.0

I used to work for Argos as a mobile manager. RO does stand for Running Out. Unless things have changed since I worked there...each branch has their own RO list and is only relevant to the ex catalogue stock still available in that branch. The list isn't updated often enough to be relied upon. My advice is to keep your old catalogue and if you find something in it that you want that's not in the new one you can check the stock level with individual stores.
It's also worth a mention that the longer something has been on the RO list, the cheaper it gets, the staff don't want you to see it cos there waiting for further reductions so that they can get the best bargains for themselves.
Hope that helps.:)0 -

No, you're right ... I took it down a while ago as there was no longer any need for it .... Argos started putting all their "RO" stuff onto the website in special "pre-new catalogue" sales. Plus, I changed my host a few times and decided I needed the space0 -
Thank you!0

Of late the RO list in stores has been quite pathetic as they have arranged more and more RTM (returns to manufacturer) where we negotiate with companies such as sony to return unsold items, up until about a month ago we had TONS of RO stock in my store, but recently it was all recalled to the warehouse, for sale to alternative sources (such as TJ Hughes).
RO tips:
1) dont waste your time in the first week after a catalogue changes, as most prices dont change.
2) dont go to small stores, 90% of them do not have the space to hold RO and return it before or shortly after the catalogue changes
3) remember, you want the bargains as much as the store wants to get rid of the stuff, so do try your luck and ask for an RO list, it isnt top secret and many stores in the olden days used to print them out and put them on flight boards in store, until some customers saw items at £0.00 (the free items, which should come with other items such as a brush for a dyson, or a bluetooth headset for a phone) and purchased them through quick pay kiosks for nothing (which is theft obviously)
4) most of the big bargains go live online the day before the store gets wind of it, so always check the website, after a new catalogue has launched, however use your brain, if its the end of the summer catalogue and its still nice weather outside, your not going to be getting BBQ's and gazebos cheap....theyre not that daft.0
