A few days ago a lot of strange emails appeared in my inbox - strange because they were using a subject line I had used in sent mails. There was also a returned undeliverable mail - using a nonsense email addy I had in my contacts. So I knew that my contacts had been spammed. Now I never open strange emails let alone click on dubious attachments. Plus I have up to date virus and malware protection. No one else has access to my computer. It must have been through an infected website though. Unless the Yahoo server was hacked - I've heard of others having issues.
I checked which IDs had accessed the mail and it seems someone had logged in via Yahoo Messenger - I don't use messenger. Anyway numerous computer checks and scans found nothing. I changed the yahoo and some other passwords and was then getting some timed out and need to log back in messages. I was a bit suspicious and googled the message. This is when it gets strange. I clicked on a link and ended up IN someones email. I got through to the welcome page.
I was very tempted to go to the inbox which was listing over 80 messages. But then I panicked and clicked off in case this was some sort of malware trap.
I suppose I should report this to Yahoo.
Be careful out there...
