Do any shops offer discount to students?
Also, is that only for PAYG or contracts as well?

The Orange shop in Huddersfield seems to do a student deal with a large amount of texts and free mins, not sure if its a national thing in all shops or just at ones within a uni town or city. Its on there website too http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/students?logclick=student but you need an nus number
Also o2 have a student website https://www.o2.co.uk/nus money off phones.
Both of these are on contract, not sure about any PAYG offers
Hope this helpsLife's hard been a student0 -
The best one I have found (for my needs at least) is as follows:
https://www.themobileoutlet.co.uk have the Nokia 6230 on Orange O2 200 (this is Orange's Price Match thing i think). I am currently on O2 200 and pay about £25 a month line rental for 200 mins and 50 texts.
Orange will do this but with 9 months half price line rental. Its not a student only offer either, but it is contract.
I think any orange shop will just give you 1000 free texts a month on top of any contract deal, but the one above looks better to me anyway.
I actually went into the Orange shop in Leeds to see if they would do it rather than go thru themobileoutlet.co.uk, but they didnt seem to want to play ball.
I'll see what O2 come up when I tell them i'm leaving first though.
Hope this helps, I've been scouring the deals for the best part of a month to find the best one for me!0 -
02 are currently offering a sim only deal where you get 400 cross network minutes and 1000 text for £30 per month. Click here to go the web page that offers a variety of different tarrifs.
The only complaint i have is that they wont let me change to it as i am in the middle of a contract.0 -
I'm currently in my 2nd year at uni and for my first year I only had a PAYG as I was home most of the time which was an o2 chip which had 300 free txts a month when u top up £10. Now have the best deal eva- contract with 3 which works by redemption but means that I only pay £3 a month for 500 mins cross network anytime and 100 txts. I know these aren't really student discounts but the only one I do know that does this is Orange but compared to 3 they charge extortionate amounts.0

I'm sure you dont need telling about how "good" 3 are!! My personal experience with them was simply awful (dropped calls all the time, phones breaking regularly, customer services non existant) and because of that I will NEVER EVER deal with them again, no matter how cheap they are. Unless you really need the video streaming, I would happily pay more for Orange or Vodafone. Rant over, thank you!0

Prices for existing customers
If you’re an existing customer, your in luck. You can check out our special offers exclusively for existing customers in Your Account.
Fork out less for a new phone too. Prices are £10 cheaper for those of you who want to buy a new phone, but keep your number. That’s because they come without a joining pack and SIM.0 -
I just set up a contract with Orange via. https://www.orange.co.uk/students. Once you've entered your NUS number (available from your Students' Union) there are first a choice of tariffs. I opted for £15/month for 30 any network minutes plus 250 texts, and at the moment you also get 1000 free texts a month too. So altogether it is £15/month for 1250 texts and 30 any network, any time minutes. I was on O2 PAYG where you top up by £10/month and get 300 free text messages so this is clearly better value. AND THE BEST BIT? I have got a brand spanking new Samsung E800 for free! Yes - free! So now I've sold my own PAYG phone for £70 on ebay and that'll cover the first five months ish!
I should add that if you want more minutes then you can get 60 for £19 or 120 for £25 I think it is. I rarely call people and prefer to text so for me this is the perfect package - take a look!
