Amex cashback cancelled

Hi all.
I was looking forward to getting the cash back on my Amex platinum card. I kept an eye on the statement for the year to finish, then it disappeared. When I asked what had happened to the £120+ I'd built up, they told me that as I hadn't spent £3000 over the year it wasn't payable.
I don't remember any small print sayiong there was a minimum spend, I'd have easily done that had I known.
Any one else had this problem?
Russ.
