buying items priced in euros

if watches in a jewellers are priced ONLY in euros and i want to pay in sterling the jeweller says the rate is one for one ? should the euro price not be converted to sterling ?

The price is what the jeweller says it is, he can make his own conversion rate.

If the jewellery shop is based in the UK then are they allowed to only trade/price in Euros?

Bur the €/£ rate is almost 1:1 anyway. £1:€1.16 currently, but the "tourist" rate will be less than that.

I tend to buy watches on EBay from Singapore. Trouble is most of the good sellers have dissapeared but I think Premier Watches is still on EBay.

If you are looking at expensive watches have a look at Christopher Ward watches.

There are some exemptiosn for high value jewellry to actually display a price but when you do the transaction you should be given a sterling price.

If its a product they you can display the price in any currency, but the till/cash system MUST be in Sterling
