Is this the Right time to Buy from Housing Association??

Alice,
I rec'd the reply today from my M.P:
I will try to clarify what the Minister is proposing and the eligibility for their new scheme. I have written to the Housing Minister to that end but would advise you to look on the govt. internet website yourself to satisfy yourself prior to any decision you might take.
Don't know what you make of this but at least he's tried, I guess. You heard anything yet?
Hi - he has passed the query on to the relevant dept so no, no answer as yet. They are usually pretty quick. It just seems confusing and as though they have forgotten about right to acquire altogether! Will let you know as soon as I hear from him.0 -
Hi
I emailed the National Housing Federation and got this response:
"The government's intention at the moment is to only reinvigorate the Right to Buy. For housing associations, this will apply to tenants whose tenancy grants them the Preserved Right to Buy following a stock transfer from a local authority. As you also note, what this means in effect is increasing the discount available to up to half the property value.
There are currently no plans to update the Right to Acquire, so for those tenants with the Right to Acquire we would expect the discount available under this to remain the same."
Who knows, this may change but it doesn't sound like it will at the moment.0 -
I have now had a letter from the Minister for Housing via my local MP, in response to my enquiry. States that the proposed discounts will be for Right to Buy only. There will be a consultation paper on this shortly so it may be worth sending your comments on this - I know that I will be as I wonder whether they could consider the Right to Acquire also. But there may be some reason why they have excluded it.0
