When to book New York?

Glad you got it booked, I think you will find the fare only goes up from now.
As I mentioned in my previous post - do a lot of study on the New York trip advisor forums, everything you could possibly want to know is on there, but this forum also has the topic well covered.
New York is FABULOUS :T****************************0 -
We booked flights last June to fly to New York to visit our daughter and husband through Thomson's with American Airlines. Paid £379 each. AA brought prices down so that only three weeks ago they were £259 each. AA operate price rollovers when prices come down. AA told me to get Thomson's to contact them. Asked Thomson's - they said "You've paid for the tickets so there's nothing we can do." I told them about the rollovers. Eventually they said they would contact Jetaways who they book flights through. They (Jetaways) did nothing and said "You've paid for the tickets, there's nothing we can do." Thomson's gave me the customer services phone number - I rang them. Without asking for my booking reference they said "You've paid for the tickets, there's nothing we can do." I asked "Can you tell me why I should use a travel agent and not book direct with AA?" The answer? - "I'm not going down that route." Eventually they offered "So you can book face-to-face." But Thomson's use Jetaways (no face-to-face). The moral - book early, book with the airline and keep an eye on the prices; the airline might help if prices fall. The (at least, my) travel agent doesn't.0

I accept what happened above, but believe me, the Continental flights DO NOT go down anywhere near that amount. The one time it has gone down when I used it, it was £7 and then bumped right back up the next day.
I am a frequent flyer to New York and always grab the flights at around £300 as they no longer go for less than that (2 years ago when the direct service started it was £280)
Because it is the only service that operates out of Edinburgh, they never have offers on.****************************0
