this may be a scam, leaflet through door wanting to buy gold

from daniel o'malley, 10 minsters leap, waterlooville, po7 5qs uses a moblie number

the address is over 200 miles away from me but he could have people working for him in other areas

wants to buy gold but I could not find any trace of him and the postcode shows a terraced house on a housing estate.

and leap should be spelt lepe, could be a printing error.

have reported it to the local bobby just in case

Sometimes age just shows up all by itself ;)

  • Don't see what the problem was. Everyone and his dog seems to be offering to buy old gold these days. If you don't like the price offered then don't sell it,,,,simples

  • we cetainly do we had 2 bobby's call.

they rang back later after their dept contacting trading standards who were concerned that as the person lives 200 miles away he may be employing locals who by law have to own the special scales and be licenced this is the minimum all gold traders must have.

Portsmouth trading standards are checking for any information of him in their area.

the bobbys are concerned that he may be targeting the elderly and have asked that if I spot him in our small town to ring them and they will come out immediately.

Don't see what the problem was.

I don't know about anyone else, but I certainly wouldn't phone a totally unknown person whose identity or business couldn't be confirmed and tell them that I had gold jewellery or gold coins in my house.
