wouldn't mind having some of your reviews on the Ballyhackamore Blow Dry Bar

Well, the one in post 19 made for interesting reading :rotfl::
Avoid the Ballyhackamore one at all costs- dreadful, dreadful, dreadful:eek::eek:

I had to have an emergency visit to them one monday morning- as i had an interview on the Tuesday. THere was a row between the staff as to who would cut my hair (nobody could cut short hair I heard one say). I think they guy chopping at my hair (apparantly he is the manager!!) was coming down from something as he chopped at half of it and then stood beside me, as if to say, 'thats it done'. He stood beside me mute- I had to tell him to at least make it the same length all round.

I have since gone back to my mobile hairdresser and she says its a complete state and was just chopped at, with long bits and short bit throughout.

She also told me she has heard horror stories about the one on top of the Holywood road, and lots of the local hairdressers are having to sort out the messes these 'hairdressers' are making.

Got my hair dyed yesterday at the Ballyhackmore salon and it was done terribly and they tried to tell me it was done right then after arguing they offer to correct it the next day but then we called in the next day saying we didn't have time to wait in the queue they said we weren't entitled to the correction if we waited more than 24 hours. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Hi steviem1- where would you like me to post my review? What is the URL? I presume you mean a Facebook page where negative comments are no doubt deleted;)

Though I must add again- anyone reading this thread, please avoid this place. Terrible immature staff (they were actually laughing at people walking past), terrible service (blaring music and singing away as they chop at your hair) and ultimately your hair will look worse than it did when you go in.

I went to the facebook page, and i saw something about complaints are to be made to the manager in the shop, etc. In my case it was the manager who I was with- so I complain to him about him;)

yes, sorry, the reason my message was so 'cryptic' was that you arent allowed for a while to post an url here. The site is ballyhackamore[dot]net. Its a site all about Ballyhackamore, gets ariund 3,000 local people a month visiting. Visitors often leave comments about local businesses, so thats why I wouldn't mnd some reviews on this place (good or bad). You can find the Blow Dry Bar post in the 'shops and businesses' category.

    Thanks

I've used the Blowdry bars for a while now. Use the one in Castle street occasionally, but mainly the one on the Oldpark Road as it's a 2 minute walk away from me :)
I have never had a bad experience from either of them. When I go in to them I specifically ask for certain people. On the Oldpark it used to be the gay fella (who I can't for the life of me remember his name) or Mary. The fella has moved on elsewhere now :( and Mary is down in Castle Street which is why I call in there from time to time. I now ask f or Margaret in the Oldpark Road branch, and I have to say I can't praise them enough. They are always welcoming, they always chat to their customers and I enjoy listening to the music they have on now and again.
I was in recently when there were customers who had went to both branches to get their hairs redone so to speak as they hadn't had a good experience from the Cliftonville circus and Finaghy branches

I recently had a cut and colour in Lisburn Blowdry Bar and it was terrible. My hair was lighter at the roots than at the ends it was dry and had no shine. The cut was ok because I have long hair it was just a basic trim but I have heard nothing but bad reports of the salon since. Everyone seems to have the sam trouble with the colour not taking. A friend of mine was told by the stylist that her hair was very "colour resistant." One of my work mates was told that her home colour had caused the colour to not work out correctly. The salon was freezing too!

For Christmas I treated my daughter to a full head foil with 2 colours at £40, she also only required millimeters off her hair but the foils were absolutely awful. They looked like they had been done about 6 months ago there was a full cm gap on one side between her scalp and were the colour started which was very obvious if she tried to tie her hair up. When I went back it was so busy due to the Christmas rush they asked me to come back after Christmas which we did last week only to be told we had now left it too late and they wouldn't correct it.
I have an appointment with citizens advice this afternoon to find out my legal position as I am sure they have to correct this as it was their mistake.
I would avoid at all costs and again the salon was freezing and she wasn't even offered a drink of water never mind a hot drink.

I went to the Hollywood rd branch recently and overall it was "ok".

The colour & cut for £20 is a good deal but you really do have to weigh up the pro's and cons on it.

I had hair dye splatted everywhere.. .. on my ears and neck ( she did clean my face) but must've missed the rest - I do expect a bit on my skin but it was all over the chair and floor too. I'm very lucky I didn't sit in it as it was on the chair when I went back after rinsing.

A different member of staff did my cut and I was happy with it and the overall finish.

I was in and out in less than an hour and a half and only had to wait for 10 minutes on arrival before being taken.

I think they are under pressure to try to do so many customers that they rush a tad but overall, I was being lazy and didn't want to do my own hair colour so for £20 I thought I'd give them a go and I was happy enough.

I used to pay over £60 in salons before I started doing my own.

Don't think I'd opt for a blow dry bar for a style change or upstyle etc but for what I wanted, it did the job.

To expect wonders from a trim & blow for less than £15 or colour & trim & blow for under £25 is asking to much I mean it is trainee prices so it's wrong to expect a professional skilled cut or colourist,
My worry is how they force there staff to work
Must have no real hairdressing training or experience at all, and the colour brand they use isn't a professional one, and is not computable with professional brands.
They are given clients who require services that they are not trained to do. Plus you get a different stylist every time (not good as all hairdressers are not the same)
They move there stylists from salon to salon so if you go back to complain no one will know what your on about because the stylist who did it will be else where.
Also they Underpay there staff telling them they won't be intitled to min wage for the 1st few months up to a year which is the law if on an government NVQ level 3 apprenticeship, which none of there staff is so this isn't legal in fact must don't even have an NVQ level 2, They mislead & use these kids then let them go and recruit new wanna be stylists to cut costs.

I feel sorry for there staff there is a huge demand by you the client for cheap hairdressing and when given it you still complain
    I'm a hairdresser and I wouldn't do a good cut & blow for £15! Sorry
