No claims made on previous buildings insurance

I'm in the process of getting quotes for buildings and contents insurance for a house that we're looking to move into soon.
When asked on their websites directly or even the comparison websites, they ask about previous insurance and claims. In answer to these, which are honest, we've not made a claim on buildings or contents over the past 5 years (well in fact ever but it's 5 years or more that they ask). The question I have is what do they ask from you to prove this information. I'm pretty sure they just don't take your word for it. It is more poinant for the buildings insurance as I lived in a leasehold flat and the buildings insurance was paid to my landlord via monthly charges who then paid the insurance directly to Zurich, the insurer.
Any help and advice would be grateful.
I know some of these questions I could ring up and ask the insurance companies but I want open, honest and unbiased responses first.
Thanks in advance.

There are often 2 questions:
1) Years claim free
2) Years no claims discount
For 1 they normally do not ask you to "prove it" but will look at the CUE database to validate your response
For 2 they will look for a letter from your current/ last insurer. Evidently at the moment you dont have your own policy so this is presumably zero anyway.
NCD is rarer on home insurance and so not all insurers ask about it0 -
