Avira Pop Ups

On the new version the pop ups appear in the bottom right hand corner of the screen every time you switch on and you have to click to get rid of it.

The old way of getting rid of them does not seem to work http://www.wikihow.com/Remove-the-Popup-Ads-in-Avira-Antivir even though the security level on C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\ avnotify.exe.
is set to Disallowed.

Am I doing something wrong?

I can't answer, but this is the reason I scrapped it and changed to Avast.

I upgraded to Avira 2012 a few weeks ago and was getting those damn pop-ups at the bottom left. They did go away after a week or so without me doing anything. YMMV

I still get the splash screen, but I regard this as a confidence measure - I know that Avira has updated.

Don't know if it's relevant to the previous posts but, I've recenetly completely un-installed/re-installed.
I'm on Win7 Home Premium 64bit, afterwards I found the 'old' way of disabling the large ad, via secrity tab on Avnotify.exe, no longer worked. Admittedly, recently it had required continual resetting.
I decided to try a similar method to that used on XP Home, via 'Safe mode', this worked and I've been large advert free for several days.

I didn't know there was another way of doing it...I have googled it and will give it a go.
