Warm Home Discount Scheme
Options
Hi Guys, Just wondering if someone could clarify something for me please?
Im currently with Scottish Power but am in the process of switching to Ebico not sure of the date when they will be supplying my electricity and gas though should be within the next couple of weeks.
I read about the Warm Home discount scheme on the direct gov website and I meet the criteria and I wanted to apply as Im really struggling at the moment with money and my energy bills. On the website is says about if my name was on the electricity bill on September 11th so I was wondering do I need to apply now for it whilst im with Scottish Power or wait until ive moved to Ebico then apply? Or if Im moving energy companies will I lose my right to claim and is it best to cancel Ebico and stay with Scottish Power? I don't recieve the pension credit so wouldnt get a letter as it states but I think I would fit into the next category as I recieve income support and a disabilty premium.
Thanks

Anyone who is on Guaranteed Pension credit only will receive the WHD from whichever company they were with on September 11th as long as the company was taking part. These are the Core group. Anyone else will probably find a cut of date so if they move suppliers may not get it this year.
Just to add no company is allowed to say you will get it if you move to them. You would have to wait till the supply started then be assessed so I would think you would probably miss out if you moved.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0 -
As the WHD discount is added to the electric account how can you apply with one supplier and then get it from them when u switch suppliers? You can apply at anytime from your current supplier or one u are switching to, for payment by end of March. Switch to Ebico you will still get it if you are entitled to it0
