Have you seen the new Nespresso compatible capsules in Waitrose called CafePod? I saw them last week and tried them out, and have to admit that the quality of coffee was good! Definitely comparable in taste to Nespresso.

The price is roughly the same as Nespresso, but due to the fact that I could get these down the road from my house, and I didn't have to order the minimum quantity online or go into a Nespresso store, I was fine with this.

I haven't tried the ones from Costco, so unfortunately can't compare those.
  • OK Nespresso compatible pods available in Costco Watford today. NX Cafe Caps by Dualit. Says clearly Nespresso compatible on the packaging. £11.99 for 60 pods in two flavours: Intenso, Strong & Bold strength 5 or Livorna, Premimum Blend strength 3. Am going to try them out later and will let you know what they are like.
  • I have just tried the Dualit Nespresso capsules from Costco and they were disgusting IMO! Not only that the coffee dripped out instead of poured and it sounded like my machine was struggling as a result. I'm returning them.

Got my hands on some Dualit ones and have to say I think they're disgusting too. I drank the decaf to just to see if it improved but was tempted to chuck it. The other one I tried tasted like cafetiere Kenco but stale.

Also got some Cafepod and they're not bad at all.

But if I'm not saving money and not desperate (i.e. run out completely), I see no reason to not buy the originals from Nespresso. They're fully sealed, fully recycled by them, and you get a nice range although Ristretto is what floats my boat.

If Cafepod come down in price (even Amazon's subscription price is not that amazing), then I'd consider switching as their intense one was pretty nice (though didn't linger quite like ristretto).
The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster! :)

  • Yesterday I noticed that Cafepod have a special on where if you buy a box (or more) of capsules at Sainsbury's, they'll match whatever you buy... I.e. send you a free box or boxes.

At the normal price in Sainsbury's of £2.75, this works out to less than £1.38 for a box of 10, or less than half the price of a box of Nespresso capsules.

I purchased 3 boxes from Sainsbury's yesterday, and sent them a photo of the receipt, and low and behold the 3 additional boxes arrived in the post when I was home this evening.

I think the deal runs for another week or so, so I will definitely be stocking up on capsules!!!

You can locate the deal on Cafepod's Facebook page.
