How long to sell house?

How long is a piece of string? I know.
It has been a drawn out process.
Estate Agents put forward a low offer but as it was a chain free cash buyer, I accepted as hoped it would be a no-hassle sale. (No onward chain on my part).
However, soon I learn that there is a chain of 3 properties behind my buyer. Estate Agent did not do their homework!! Or, more likely, lied.
As time goes on, we're now 8 weeks, my sol has been chasing, she has draft contract pack ready to send out, but it hasn't been requested. Their sol says that they're waiting for instructions and payment on account for searches. Experience tells me that this should have happened not long after offer? I threatened to pull out, cut my losses and put house on with another agent after xmas. Then Estate Agent said buyer was furious as she'd ordered furniture! Madness! Order furniture but don't instruct your solicitor??
My Estate Agents are a bunch of clowns and don't help at all or chase the chain for me. So no idea what's going on further down the chain.
Writing this helps, I can see for myself that this is a waste of time!! Shall I just cut my losses?
