New Log Burner

I lit my first fire in my new log burner tonight. Its lovely and would be really cosy here except I have to have all the windows open, there's such a strong smell coming from the stove.
Does anyone know if its normal for a new burner to be giving off such strong fumes and if it is, how long does it last?
Thanks in advance for any information.

I believe they need one or two burns to cure the cast iron. Mine doesn't smell at all but I think it did briefly I was told to let it burn in for a while0

Yes its normal, the paint on the stove needs to 'cure' on when it reaches temperature. This is what is causing the fumes you are smelling.
I think its something like 3 - 5 burns until it goes away. It should say in the guidelines for the stove you have purchased.

Yes - after 3 to 5 days it should be gone. If you respray any paint or use cement (both specialist for woodburners), you will get similar smells to begin with.0

Our new stove was a bit smelly for the first few burns, then it got better, the paint needs to cure a bit0
