I am genuinely motivated for the this job as its one of the ones i earmarked as one that i would love to get. I've never had a proper interview or telephone interview so im just a bit nervous and don't know what to really expect from an interview.

    Sorry to bother everyone.

Read up on the company, what it does and where it does it.

Read the job spec and when you are being interviewed, make sure that all your answers relate to the job so if the spec says 'teamworker' make sure you have in your mind areas where you have worked as part of a team, and use those to give your answers.

Make notes on each point so that you know what you said in the application and further points that you can make over the phone.

It's the job spec that you need to concentrate on, and how you meet the requirements, and they like to know that you have researched the company and are applying because you really want to work for them.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

Is it an interview or a psychometric?

For fit I ask things like

"tell me about the job where you were most satisfied - what did you like? what did you feel you had to just put up with?"

    and then the inverse.

  • Remember that why do you want to work for this company and why do you want this role are two separate questions and you should have different answers for each - many people blur the two together.

If it truly is just on that topic then you'll get questions about what you could bring to the role, what you like and dislike about it, why your wanting to leave where you are, where you want to be in 1, 2, 3 or 5 years etc
  • Thank you guys!!!
