Pets at Home

I just thought I'd make a post about this as since the store opened in my local area about two years ago they have been nothing but great! They're absolutely brilliant in there and are always ever so helpful, they all know their stuff and they'll go out of their way to help you. I went in today with just a query about dog food because I've got a fussy eater and came out with a free bag to try her out on! If only all companies were like this.. thought they deserve a bit of praise! :T

I agree, we have a Pets at home close to us and they are brill. We get our cat litter from there.
As you say, the staff are always willing to help and have a happy smiley face at the till.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670 -
Pets at home are great, well my local store is. When we dogsit for dad, we always take the pooch in to buy him a treat/toy. He's like a kid in a toyshop in the squeaky toy aisle0

My dog used to love going in there.
He used to jump up and knew how to lift the flip top bin lids to get to the choccy bones ! Staff used to see him come in and have them ready for him.
Now he is 15 he can't do it, but I get them for him instead !
Lovely staff0 -
Same here. The one in Barnsley is good with really friendly helpful staff. They really are a credit to the company.0

I have found the pets at home near me to be a bit hit and miss.
I have been in before and my son saw a lot of dead fish floating in the tanks so my girlfriend had to find a member of staff to tell them about it.
Most times when I have needed some advice from a member of staff, they are nowhere to be seen.
Maybe it is just me, or maybe it is just my local pets at home, but I don't rate it that much at all.
Also, just about everything they sell is overpriced and you can find better quality at a lower cost elsewhere.0 -
We've a Pets at Home beside us too. I only wish they had a buy on line and collect service, as the delivery charges to Coleraine, Northern Ireland nearly always ruin their web offers.
That said the staff in the store are great.
A mention too for their competitors Jolleys who also have a store in our town. A much more warehouse feel to the place, but again the staff are great and know their stuff.0 -
Anyone know what happens to the animals that Pets at Home can't sell -the rabbits, guinea pigs, degus etc? Are they sent back to the breeder? What do they do with them? I must admit I always want to take the animals from the Adoption section home.
I think if I was getting a rabbit or guinea pig now I would look at rescues first, as there are so many unwanted litters, plus they are often already neutered.0 -

The pets at home near me both have adoption centers where unwanted small animals like rabbits and guinea pigs can be placed for rehoming. There is usually a card on the cage with the animals name and its reason for being there (usually something like 'my owners cant look after me anymore')0 -

.
They are kept out for sale as long as reasonably possible, and then if neccessary donated to the Support Adoption centre (which is a separate entity that only raises money for charity). If they still don't find a home in SA, they will be transferred to another store adoption centre until someone finally falls for them.0
