How much energy are you using now?
We had a thread like this last year; curious to see how peoples usage is affected by the different prices and weather this year.
House type: 4 bed detached, new(ish) build.
Period Measured: November
Gas
Supplier/tariff: co-op
Use: Hot water / hob / CH
Method: CH 16C - 18C 24/7 + Hot water twice a day
Usage: 2.9 units per day
Cost: £1.30 per day / £27.30 over 21 days.
Electricity
Supplier/tariff: co-op
Use: General, no heating.
Usage: 7.5 KWh per day
Cost: £0.96p per day / £20 over 21 days
Despite the price increases my usage is lower this year purely because of the weather. I believe it was -8 this time last year.
If you need a tool to keep track of your energy costs use this : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/23758534/Energy_Calculator.xls
Also you will need your meter reading between dates + your tariff rates for gas and electricity, usually found on their web site.

Anyway last 7 days Npower Price Protector 3 bed semi Midlands built in the 90's single occupant working full time.
The energy monitor says 60kWh and about 66% usage is at night for hot water, washing and some heating etc...Gas is not used but is connected.
8.6kWh per day and £1.24 per day. Less the £105 annual discount for having duel fuel means it's about £0.95 per day.
That's not counting the switching incentive payment of £15 received from energyhelpline.com for "switching" from one Npower tariff to another Npower tariff. I've also received some credit from Npower for having an unresolved complaint of £10. I've also been with Npower for 88 weeks and got a £130 bonus for joining from Quidco. My first bill also came with a £50 welcome credit.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.
