EDF want to update our meter, but they don't supply our power?

HI

We have had a couple of letters addresses to the previous owner of our house (we have bought about 5 years ago!) from EDF energy suggesting our electricity meter is old and needs to be replaced.

Our energy supplier is Scottish power.

Is this a scam, they have now arranged an appointment to come and visit according to their latest letter, for which I really don't want to take a day off for and I did not ask for.

I am an EDF customer and had a letter early this year from EON saying my electric meter needing replacing. I thought it was a scam and asked on here, but it was all above board. I had my meter replaced by EON workers, and there was no scam! I also had to take a day off as they couldn't give me specific time.

your Host supplier will need to change your meter, it won't affect who actually supplies you. Its perfectly normal.

It should be changed by EDF Networks not EDF Energy.

Do I have any obligation to do this, I can think of better ways to spend the day at the moment!?
