Free loft insulation - what do you get?

Was wondering which forum to put this in but there doesn't seem to be an obvious one.

I've been thinking of taking up the Tesco offer for free loft insulation. Their helpline seems to be permanently engaged.

Has anyone had this done?

I'm assuming I qualify as my roof area comes in under their maximum and I also currently only have a rubbishy, single layer of ages-old, thin insulation (Tesco says it allows up to 60mm of existing insulation).

Yet I have heard that some assessors immediately rule out the 'free' possibility as soon as they spot any existing insulation. Their site is also unclear as to exactly what will be provided under the offer.

Any thoughts?

    Hi Charlton,

You should get more help with this on the In My Home forum, so I've moved it over there.

I was aware of the cheap rolls, although the price has dropped from the dramatic £3 a roll delivered, but I wasn't aware of the safety gear which is important to have when fitting loft insulation. It should help with costs.

All that's needed are some boards to move around the loft without falling through the ceiling. I think you still need to be a DIYer.
