Wht are USA/Canada coach tours so expensive?

My partner and I are now thinking about visiting the Rockies, ending in Vancouver.

Neither of us can drive now, so the only option appears to be a coach tour.

I am staggered at the prices!

For 14 days, in July, it appears to be about £1700 each excluding all meals, which is going to mean a very expensive holiday.

I am happy to book my own flight, but I would be grateful if anyone has any suggestions as to how to reduce the cost, after all, everyone knows that their 3 star hotel rooms are not per person, but per room, so why such a high cost, it seems like a price ring here, as all operators seem to be about the same prices

Thank you for help.
