digital switchoff

I bought a beautiful Bose radio in 2005/2006 which I love and use every day
next year, our region is due to have FM switched off to go digital
as far as I know, this means that my radio will no longer work. I have contacted Bose, who do a plugin digital tuner, but it won't work with my model (probably too old - sigh)
I use my iPod as an external feed to play music, and that works fine. I'm not too keen on even more trailing wires, but a plug in digital tuner seems to be the best option - don't really want to buy a new Bose radio - eek
so my question is, does anyone here have an opinion on what a good tuner option would be?

As far as I'm aware there are no plans to turn off FM radio transmissions when the digital TV switch-on happens.
There have been proposals to turn off FM radio in the past (one was to have taken place in 2013 IIRC), but the environmental impact of - for example - millions of car radios being scrapped means that it will be resisted (by me, for one).0 -

fantastic I don't need to do anything for some time yet then
and I hadn't even thought of the car radio!
I can't remember now where I first heard, It's been on my mind for a while. Maybe it was when it was all going to happen, then the date changed and I missed it
we are alright for the tv as we have Sky, so digital already, maybe a bit of re-tuning
thanks for taking the time to reply0 -
If it ever does happen, which I suspect it won't as the outcry would be huge, then I suspect that you'd be able to get the equivalent of a set top box for car radios (DAB receiver + FM transmitter). Presumably to counter thievery most car radios I've seen these days are pretty much part of the car rather than slot in jobs so replacing them would be next to impossible.0
