Chimney stack removal

Hi guys,
I have a chimney stack extending from the ground floor hearth to approx 1m above the tiled roof (standard house apex). I estimate the full height to be approx 7m. It is 615mm by 920mm wide, rectangular shape.
While it is located centrally in the house, rather than on an outside wall, it is not structural, rather some internal walls butt up to the stack but it is not carrying much more than its own weight above it (a surveyor has confirmed this).
If the cost is reasonable, i would like to remove so I can make sense of the downstairs layout. I know it is difficult to estimate without seeing these things but could someone suggest ball park for what it should cost. I would handle the righting costs of replacing non load bearing brick walls boards with stud walls and additional flooring (joists dont need adding) so it is purely removal I am after. From what I have been told no additional support will be required as the chimney doesnt carry any load.
Given the nature of work, I would not like to go at it on a DIY basis even if it is not load bearing.
Any thoughts as to cost would be appreciated. I am in yorkshire.
Thanks in advance.

Sorry, no idea of cost. Just one thing to bear in mind - are you sure you want to remove it ? Round by us ( all modern houses with no chimneys ), there are loads of people paying what must be quite some considerable sum to have chimneys put in, so they can have open fires / logburners / whatever - the soaring cost of heating makes wood burning an attractive option, especially when you're friendly with the local landowners so have a ready supply of free wood :-)
Sorry, it doesn't answer your question, but maybe something to think about, especially if you're ever likely to sell the house at some point ?0 -
Its a very good point Ebe, one we have considered. Unfortunately, it is in totally the wrong place to make use of it that way. The log burner is planned on a second chimney which I hope will make a nice feature someday in the future.0

I had done exactly what you described (but also incl patching up the roof and intermediate floor / ceilings). It took 3 fairly hard working blokes 3 days & 2 skips. Cost was £3k all in.
Plastering was done later at additional cost.0
