Shares - How an i find out how much they are worth

I bought shares over 20 years ago in Television South - they then got taken over by International Family Channel and i received share certificates - i forgot about them till recently and now want to know what they are worth. I know they got taken over again by Fox TV and are now owned by ABC Family Channel.
Do i now own the same number of shares in ABC or does it not work that way ? How do i find out what they are worth and sell them?
Any guidance greatfully received.
