He he your title made me laugh. Defo agree find out what she's allergic to. Love the brooch idea but remember depending on her dress there might not be a suitable place to put it... I personally think that bracelets are the best for going with any dress style, also pearl bracelets don't look as old fashioned as necklaces (I love pearl necklaces though!). You can get lovely pearl bracelets on elastic so she probably wouldn't be allergic to that... maybe you could get an engraving on a piece of mother of pearl or something,... last tip, don't be put off going to a jeweller, say if you want a gold clasp exchanging for titanium or an engraved something, I was amazed at how cheap mine was for making something bespoke. HTH

I hope the OP isn't assuming that the bride will wear it on the wedding day itself!!! She will have carefully chosen her own accessories to go with her dress, I would say that the chances of her wearing whatever he buys - be it earrings, a brooch or whatever - are slim. They probably won't even match what she is planning to wear!

I assumed that the OP was buying it as a keepsake and reminder of the day, for the bride to wear *in future*. Am I wrong??

Wanchai, that's what I thought too!

And, for the record, I HATE pearls and cameo brooches...

Oh yeah! I always imagined you were supposed to wear it that day, but that would be really daft! Where have I got that idea from?! Maybe I saw it in a magazine...I never gave it that much thought as my bf would never get me jewellery, I'm too fussy!
  • It might be the nickel in costume jewellery that she's allergic to. You can get nickel free costume jewellery.

A less stressy alternative may be a morning gift. This is a scandinavian custom, the jewellery is given to the new wife by the husband the morning after the marriage. Yes, it is an old tradition....it's in return for a 'gift' rendered on the wedding night ;)

Is it childish that I laughed at that?!

I'd go withthat advice though - a pearl bracelet is discrete enough, but look fabulous.

I remember when my bestfriend got married a few years ago, at the wedding rehersal her H2B slipped me a present that he wanted me to give her on the morning of the wedding. So morning of wedding comes & I give her the gift, turns out to be a beautiful diamond necklace she loved it. But she was in a total panic as it did not go with her dress & had carefully chosen one to wear & did not know what to do. In the end she did not wear it & explained to him after but he was suprised when she didn't have it on.
Married the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.

Men!!! They are so sweet sometimes but they haven't a clue! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

OP - are you buying this for her to wear on the day or just as a keepsake for the future?
