Aw, bless you! Usually people are alergic to a specific metal. Does she have an engagement ring ? Is she having a wedding ring? As odds are she's not allergic to that metal. Gold usually is best, people are usually allergic to nickel or silver. Find out the metals and we'll give you a hand x

Platinum is the most non-allergenic. Also the most expensive so not very MSE! Gold is pretty unreactive, but platinum is more stable, so chances are that is your best bet.

Maybe you could try pearls? Or a brooch?

I know someone who whittled his now wife her wedding ring out of wood. Seriously.

(I like the brooch idea, and pearls are lovely and timeless).

I think the best thing to do is to ask her what metals cause a reaction...in all honesty whilst its a lovely thought to want to buy her a nice piece of jewellery if its going to cause a reaction then theres probably something else she would rather have than a nasty red rash round her neck!...and in my opinion jewellery is better worn than kept in a box...

Ask her opinion as she may well be planning to choose a neckline or style of dress that wont compliment what you are thinking of buying...

something like pearls may be an option although the clasp if its gold and thats what she reacts against may cause an issue...pearls are really lovely and quite a traditional gift for a wedding day although there are some people now who feel they may be a little outdated...again thats personal choice...

He he your title made me laugh. Defo agree find out what she's allergic to. Love the brooch idea but remember depending on her dress there might not be a suitable place to put it... I personally think that bracelets are the best for going with any dress style, also pearl bracelets don't look as old fashioned as necklaces (I love pearl necklaces though!). You can get lovely pearl bracelets on elastic so she probably wouldn't be allergic to that... maybe you could get an engraving on a piece of mother of pearl or something,... last tip, don't be put off going to a jeweller, say if you want a gold clasp exchanging for titanium or an engraved something, I was amazed at how cheap mine was for making something bespoke. I'd definitely say a brooch (possibly a cameo?) or pearls. But then again, I love both cameos and pearls

  • You don't know what she's allergic to. Who does? Ask her mum/best friend/sister. They might also tell you what jewellery she might like. Girls talk about this kind of thing!
