Can you not just park across your own drive?"If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

Yes but London has a whole different set of rules. There is a bigger country outside of London that does not have the same strict rules.0 -

Technically it was greater London (Isleworth) so don't know if that comes under the same rules as central? I mean Croydon is classed as greater London too and that's miles away.
I live on the coast now and in 3 years I haven't had a single person park over my drive way.£2012 in 2012 member #15: £651.55/£20120 -

On the very remote chance this is meant seriously, don't be so stupid. Criminal damage to start with.
If it's not meant seriously, a smillie would assist to indicate this.0 -

Individual local authorities have their own bye laws which may cover parking restrictions / causing an obstruction. So, blocking a driveway could be covered by a bye law and hence cars get towed by those councils. You have to check the bye laws for your own area to find out if the council would do something. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Not to mention if an emergency services vehicle needed to get through to your house, it couldnt - for example an ambulance. If it was your car you could move it quickly. If it is their car you cannot move it quickly. Mention this to your neighbour.
This happens a lot on my street as well, obsructions can stop bin lorrys turning round in certain circumstances and as such they can refuse to come in your cul-de-sac to collect your rubbish bins.0 -

In the south of England parking circles its also classed as Parking HQ. Not only is it the home of NCP but also Croydon council which at one point used to provide all the training for other local authorities and their parking staff. I heard rumour that this had stopped over recent years and that the fella called Shaun had left and setup his own parking training company.
It's also overrun with traffic cameras allegedly.0 -
Wrong.
It's only against the law if you are obstructing someone from gaining lawful access to the road. i.e. it's illegal to block someone's car on their driveway, but if the driveway is empty it's perfectly legal to block it.
Edit: Beaten to it by Strider.
What if the car is in the garage? Driveway would be empty but also obstructed. On the drive or not, arrogant/ignorant people should not block driveways, they would be the first to complain if it happened to them.
I have called police several times over the years re cars parked across my drive, and every time they have dealt with it whether my car was on or off the drive, bottom line is it is obstruction and anti social.
