I have a claim been made against me for alledgeedly injuring someone while parking my car. The policy runs to april 2012,but i no longer use the vehicle.

What i would like to know is if i cancel now will the claim still be dealt with. I feel if i ask the insurers they will say yes as it would be in there interest to get my monthly payment. Any ideas ?

DS was in a similar situation and was told he couldn't cancel the insurance. Makes sense really but always worth asking!

Do you still have the car, and where is it parked?
Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

You can cancel your policy at any time.

The insurer will still deal with the claim against you.

Though until this claim is settled, your insurer will want the full premium for the year paid. If you are anyway at failt, and your insurer has to pay damages to the third party, then you won't get any refund.

Under the new insurance rules, this won't work. She would have to add your car onto her policy.

You're breaking the law, it is illegal to have two insurance policies on one vehicle.

Okay okay, if you want to be pedantic, I was just saving time in having to explain it, whilst it's not illegal to have, it is illegal to try and make a claim, so why pay for two policies.

No it isn't! (And the OP has a current claim on the policy anyway, so your talk of him being "illegal" is just scaremongering!)

Erm yes it is illegal to make a claim on two insurance polcies for one car. It's double indemnity.
