SEO or Search Engine Optimisation

Can anyone recommend one of these companies that actually does what it says it will do?

I'm not website minded (as in the construction of) but I am reasonably computer literate. However I don't want to spend time learning how to do this and doing the whole thing myself, I've got a business to run after all.

I'd like a company that has the ability to optimise my website and genuinely increase traffic.

My expectations are not unrealistic, I don't expect guarantees of page one on Google the next day, or at all for that matter, but I do expect an increase in presence on the natural listings over a period of time (months).

Current company (after 14 months) have failed to produce any results whatsoever and are about to be fired.

Any recommendations out there? Preferably someone who has actually used a company that works.

Hmm, I don't know anyone but can offer advice. We're currently doing exactly that here. The two main areas we concentrate on are:

    1) Keywords. We're currently looking at existing systems (and thinking about building our own) that allow you to manage "keywords" across a number of search engines. You basically buy phrases, such as "money saving expert" that'll help you get found during a search.

    2) The other is optimising the site for crawlers and bots. Basically google, yahoo etc... send their web spiders to trawl your website. You obviously have to make this as easy as possible, and provide as much information as possible. It depends what your website is written in, and how it's written, as to the extent that someone will be able to improve it.

It's all about increasing your page rating or "rank". Other things such as being mentioned on other reputable sites help. Say for example bbc.co.uk referenced your site, it'd help the ranking hugely.

So anyone you do hire, maybe ask them what they'd do, how they'd go about doing it etc...

get people to link to your site using a certain keyword, i read about it in the news. This was done a few years ago to george bush's profile so that when u typed in something silly it would bring up a link to george bush, if enough people do it you can rise through the ranks in google in next to no time...not sure if its 100% legal though (if it isn't then in no way do i condone this process...sorry just protecting myself)
Like what I said? click thanks!:rotfl: :rotfl:
