Advice on Randstad PLEASE

I applied for a job vacancy for call centre customer service reps, no selling or cold calling.
It was via a company called randstad. I recieved a call about a week later from a man stating he was going to give me a telelphone interview.
The job role was for EDF energy helping customer queries and such over the phone, so no selling. He definately stated that. After the telephone interview he said i had done well and that he would send me some tests via email. Word, Excel, Numeracy and data entry/listening.
I done the tests and didnt do too bad, although personally i didnt feel i had done good enough, scoring 75% on Word, 75% on Excel, 65% on numeracy and 88% on data entry.
I recieved a phone call this evening around 6pm from a man named Mark who said i have passed the tests and done well, and he would like to invite me for an interview.
I was over the moon as i have been looking for work for so long. He emailed me the details and said i need to bring a passport, bank details, proof of national insurance number and the interview will take around an hour.
I thought it was a little starnge when he said to bring a passport and bank details as that usually means i would have the job already? I have been looking at some reviews from people online saying that Randstad lie, they dont pay you, lots of bad things about working for them. Most of them were from USA but some were also from the uk saying the same thing.
Im now worried about coming of JSA if i do get this job as i dont want to get into debt over xmas.
Any thoughts or experiences please? I just dont know what to do, i have the interview on Weds at 9am.

Well done on passing your tests.
Is your interview with EDF or with Randstad? Who are you taking your documents into?
Taking your documents in doesn't mean you have a job, it checks that you are able to work in the UK and also if you get the job it saves you having to return with your details again.
You need to check if you are going for a permanent job or a temporary one.
Agency pay can be difficult sometimes, as there is only a short turnaround time. You will need to take control of this and all should be okay. If you are successful make sure you have sent your P45 or completed a P46 and sent this to the relevant payroll department RECORDED DELIVERY. If you are temping you will have a weekly timesheet to complete either on paper or online. Either way make sure you complete this on a Friday when you finish work and get it signed (paper) or approved (online) - if you get all this done you won't have difficultly getting paid. But then chase the agency or whoever and make sure all is okay.0 -
I worked for Randstad for little over 9months, i got paid every friday into my bank account no problems. Any questions i needed answered they were so good and just at the other end of phone! i only have great things to say bout them. Passport and documents are for them to check u can work in uk and if u get the job it saves having to in my case travel 200 odd miles to show them again:)
good luckmarriage is finding that one special person that you can annoy for the rest of your life:)0 -
to be honest i didnt even realise Randstad was a recruitment agency until i searched on google. The interview is with someone from Randtad but at uk power networks which im guessing is where the job role would be. It is for a permanent role full time, which is the job i applied for, I wont be taking any fobbing off from them so i suppose at least i done my research, it just seemed strange that he said interviews were this week and i could be starting next week depending on how many people they can get into a training class. That seems to me as if i am starting too quick? im sure with previous roles i have never started so quick!Good things come to those who wait!0

Randstad are an agency that supplied contractors to Vertex (huge outsourcing company that deal with United Utilities). I've worked through them with no problems0

is it perm or temp? if it's temp then they get people in straight away as there's no fannying about with paperwork at the client end.0 -
im sure the job i applied for was permanent
Just searched the job again and looks like it is temp possibly going onto permanentGood things come to those who wait!0 -
That's fine, temp to perm is usual in high volume recruitment campaigns.
As for finding out about your interview - have a look at this: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3586443=
It's likely to be competancy based.0 -

Is the interview for the actual job or is it to register with the agency?0
