Could anybody please recommend a hotel near the appollo theatre, Manchester.
Going to see a show in a few weeks, and have decided to stay overnight ( early xmas treat / 'battery charge', ready for the festive mania & mayhem!! ), but have no idea which hotels are near. Not too fussy, as will just be a place to lay our heads, but would just like it to be close to the theatre.
All help will be gratefully received.
Many thanks in advance.:)

As no one else has any ideas....
To be honest, I'm not sure that there are any that close to the Apollo (say within a mile) - it's a bit out of the centre. I've been a few times in the past and each time I've stayed in a city centre hotel (e.g. Manchester Central Travelodge in Blackfriars Street or the Premier Inn in Portland Street - there's also an IBIS) and then hailed a black cab to get there and back - ther are plenty around in Manchester, and I've yet to have a problem doing this.
One tip if you do this that has worked for me - when leaving the theatre after the show, start walking down the road *away* from the city centre - that way you manage to get first dibs on the free cabs that are coming into town before they pass the theatre and get hailed by the crowds outside.0 -

Many thanks for taking the time to reply, we had started to think this was probably the best idea! and we will certainly bear your advice in mind!

Having lived in Manchester recently and stayed in a few hotels there then Roomzzz is always a good choice, especially for location. But it all depends on what your budget is for a room and how many of you there are etc0

My advice is get one in the city centre and get a cab across. There is a travelodge not far from the venue but its not a nice walk if you're not familiar with Manchester. There isn't really an awful lot to do in the area around the Apollo either (unless petrol stations and 5-a-side football are your kind of thing
) so get one nice and central and enjoy the bars/pubs/restaurants that Manchester has to offer

Just to say a big thanks to all who took the time to offer advice!
We have now booked a city centre hotel ( got a great deal through https://www.hotelstayuk ! ) and plan to take a cab to the venue.
