The dongle uses the mobile signal to access the internet and it needs to be plugged into the computer to work.
Anything's possible, but I don't think it would be simple to make the dongle work through your router.
At one time you could buy a separate gadget to turn dongle signals into wireless ones.
Not sure if those gadgets are still available, but someone on here will be able to advise.0 -
it'll be similar to Three's MiFi if one's still available. acts like a wifi router getting the internet signal from the dongle, which you plug into it......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Yes, you do get little router-like things that give wi-fi from a dongle:

I've never used one because I only use my dongle for access on the move, so I can't say how effective they are and I'd be concerned that as dongles usually have piddling data allowances, then extortionate subsequent charges, you could be letting yourself in for a shock. The only person I've ever known to rely on a dongle for home access with 2pcs was always moaning about her bills, till I worked out that over 3Gb she was being charged £10 per Gb by her phone provider. Her bills could often exceed £250 a month for what I could only describe as the worst connection I've seen since the early days of dialup!
I soon talked her into getting a proper ISP contract and her bills went right down.0
