Best wet food for sensitive cats

Evening all

I've got 2 cats, one which gets really bad hair balls ( lots of hacking and bringing up food) and one who has a sensitive tummy that leads to icky litter trays and vomiting :o

The vet's recommended Hills science hairball dry food, but didn't really have any idea about wet food. I know that the hills science one is meant to be a complete feed but there'd be a mutiny if I got rid of the wet altogether. At the moment they get whiskers but I've heard it's not too great for sensitive tummys or for nutrional value, so I'm after ideas for a wet food with as high a meat content as possible.

Any recommendations would be great :D

If you are looking for a food to suit sensitive tummies, you would be better off going for a good quality, grain-free option.

James Wellbeloved have recently launched a grain-free wet food pouch which they say is developed for sensitive tummies. My cats have tried a few free pouches I'd got and ate them all up.

But I don't feed them that routinely, mine are fed a rotation of Grau Grain Free, Smilla and Bozita which I get from Zooplus. I get these as they are good quality meat and are all grain free.

BTW - don't take any notice of people who say that Whiskas/Felix etc are only 4% meat. This is a complete misunderstanding that I have seen repeated many times on these, and other, forums.

The fact is that if a food is labelled as, for example, "Lamb" - the legal requirement is that the featured meat has to be at least 4%, the rest of the meat may be made up from other sources such as poultry. The fact is that Whiskas etc are not very clear on the make up of the rest of the ingredients and % meat content.

It is not only Whiskas / Felix that do this: if you read the Bozita ingredients, they are only 4% of the featured flavour. The difference with them is that the rest of the meat they use is better quality and they don't use grain as fillers.

A better quality (and more expensive) food such as Grau Grain Free has all of the stated meat as its content: so if it is labelled as "Turkey" it is only Turkey meat that is used so you know exactly what the cat is getting.
  • I second the above foods but also highly recommend regular combing with the furminator - this will minimise the furballs. Also try them on De-Furrum dried treats - which I get at Pets @ Home.
