Website hosting advice?

Me and my partner have recently bought a chalet in Carmarthen that we plan to rent out for some extra income. I would like to get a website for the chalet - nothing fancy, just a page of photos, calendar, etc. It seems a minefield out there, with different companies offering different things for varying prices. I only want something basic - does anybody have any experience or advice? I plan on doing things myself so I'm not paying for the setting up and running of it, just the actual website name.

As Jackifalltrdez says, you will need a domain name if you want to look at all professional.
You may also find that your website needs to be a little more complicated than you initially think. In addition to the photos & descriptions it is also useful to have pages where visitors can print out bookings forms to fill in & return; directions of how to find the chalet; your terms & conditions etc. Visitors also like to know about the area that they may be visiting. The list can go on & on.
There are a number of webhosts, as you say. We have used Webfusion. They have a range of packages available to choose from depending on exactly what you require.0 -

What "functionality" is the calendar to have?nothing fancy, just a page of photos, calendar, etc.
If you say you are going to set it all up yourself and therefore have the technical skills to create a website I am surprised that you need to ask about the more basic topic of webhosting etc.
Those that have already suggested hosting are potentially pointless as you havent mentioned what technologies you are going to be using... If you were going to use JSP then Hostsphere for example doesnt support it on their linux boxes and their own website is broken so you cannot see what they support on their windows boxes (in itself a worry).
Your big challenge is going to be being found if you are not an SEO guru and dont have very big pockets for major PPC marketing campaigns. I would certainly suggest looking at your other distribution channels first and seeing what their requirements are and how that then fits with your future website.0 -

Can recommend 2minute website, good service, have been with them for 6yrs now, and have had no problems. Not expensive and very easy to set up and use.0 -
Angel-fire are pretty good.
cost about $30 a year to remove the adverts from the free site.
very simple as all the editing/building is done online.
i have an !!!!!!!!! site ranking top 3 on all my google searches too which is rare as most free sites are instantly penalized0
