My mum ordered a phone she wanted, because it was £100 cheaper than most places (Motorola V3i D&G), from CBS communications after finding it through a google search http://www.cbscentres.co.uk/cbs.nsf/mobiles/9A138446FDC958B6802571920053F3BC!OpenDocument. Went through the whole ordering process, was confirmed by email saying it will be dispatched ASAP. Today she just got an email saying that they won't be sending the phone because it was actually removed from the website months ago and that my mum must have opened a webpage she had saved!!!!

Can anyone else still see the phone there (even thought they claim it was removed from the website months ago)?"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Sneaky, since my mum sent an email telling them the page was still up they must have pulled it. I tried on my pc and I was able to see it a few hours ago and I've never been to that site before so it can't have been in my cache. They said they'd refund my mum, but such a shoddy way to run a business. I mean even if my mum had used a "saved" page it shouldn't have allowed her to add it to the shopping basket. If they turn around now and say that there's no proof the page is there and therefore we're wrong I'll be very upset."She is quite the oddball. Latest email from them:
Although we do understand your disappointment, this is down to a technical issue on Google's part. The page you were looking at had actually been saved by Google. We have since reported this to Google and it has now been removed.
Again, we apologise for any inconvenience.
This quite riled me so my response was:
What is disappointing is giving me these scapegoat responses on the assumption that I’m not technically competant enough to dispute them. Although I went through a link from Google it was not the cached page, it was the current page on your own website. Even the Google cached page was harvested on the 10th January, again disputing your claim that the pages were removed “months ago”. You may have removed navigation within your own site to the page but the page was still there. Passing this off as a “technical issue on Google’s part” when in fact it is obviously a website mismanagement issue on CBS’ part is very insulting. Again I emphasise that the direct link to that page (bypassing Google altogether) was still active with other people I know able to acces that page saved on your OWN website from a direct link. The fact that the page was removed last night demonstrates that either you or one of your colleagues knows full well that the page was still there and smacks of deceit. Making a genuine mistake is one thing (and I would have simply accepted that) but falsely blaming another company (Google) and covering up the mistake on your own website without acknowledgment is wholely unprofessional and has made your company outstanding in the worst possible way."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
