PC World Know How have damaged my laptop

Hi All
I hope someone can help and am very grateful to any replies.
I bought a laptop from PC World at the end of August and it was delivered a couple of weeks later.
It stopped working and I returned it for repair on the 10th of November. There was a problem with the screen not working.
They told me I could check online with a tracking number but they had my laptop!!! Anyway I checked at work today and it said my laptop had been delivered back to store on Saturday yet I heard nothing from them. The guy in store went out the back to see if my laptop was there and came out with just my laptop and turned it on to check it was working, which it is, he then went to hand it to me. I informed him I had returned it with my charger and in its original packaging. He came back with it all and packaged up my laptop.
When I got home I unpacked my laptop and found deep scratches, shallow scratches and a dent in the lid!!!!!!!!!!! I am mortified as this laptop is only a few months old.
Straight away I called knowhow (I didn't even go to Saynoto0870.com for the free phone number) and was advised that I would need to return my laptop to store again to get the lid repaired. This again would involve upto two weeks again without my laptop.
I do not see why I should lose use of my laptop again through no fault of my own, they damaged it and they shouldn't expect me to go without again. Not only do I find this unacceptable my daughters use my laptop for homework and coursework I signed up to complete a course with learndirect that needs to be completed as I paid £150 and cannot relly spare anymore time away from it.
They will not supply me with a loan computer but have said they would be happy to offer me a £30 voucher as a goodwill gesture!!!! £30 to spend in their store no doubt!
Is there anything I can do??? Or do I need to return it to them for repair again??
Thank you for any help given

They can't repair it without having the laptop! You could see if they will allow you to have it back while you are doing coursework and so forth, and agree to put the damage right once you have time (maybe over Christmas).Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
If you want it repairing, return it (not sure what other options are available).0

They have to repair within a reasonable timescale. Unfortunately 2 weeks would qualify even though it's a long time to go without something you need

A Reasonable (as defined by 1st year warranty by Dixons Retail) is 28 days, after that the machine gets swapped in store. As the Sales Of Goods Act doesn't stipulate how long a remedy should take (It only states a remedy should be provided within a reasonable time frame and without Significant Inconvenience). Being without a laptop is a inconvenience but not a significant one (perhaps if you were Stephen Hawking and required the computer to communicate that would classify as significant).
Essentially it's been 12 days as it stands, and as you've reported the fault within 7 days of return of the laptop the repair will still count as 28 days, so once you give it to their care they have 16 days before swapping in store, what make is it? A Dell?0 -
did you not check it instore ?
i agree 2 weeks is a long time but it would be deemed reasonable period unfortunately0 -
Thanks for the replies.
Its a toshiba laptop, and I only checked that the fault had been repaired. The top is red and patterned so wasn't easily spotted until I put it on my desk in front of me!! I know I should have checked it for damage but never thought I'd need to!! Learnt my lesson the hard way!!0
