setting trusted IP address on router

I've blocked some sites on my netgear DG834G router but It wont accept my IP address as trusted so I can't see the sites either......Ticked the box and put my address in but still blocked....what am I missing here? it looks simples:D

    blocking doesn't work very well, bit buggy.

    If you switch the router off and on, is the override still there.

  • Just rebooted but still no different...the sites are still blocked on my laptop.....DOH!!!.....Have to try a Netgear forum then.

    assuming you've put the correct local ip in, if it has standard netgear firmware on, not an isp's, you could try updating the firmware, but even when working it tends to block more than you want.

    I think the IP is right..got it from the router page and googled "my IP" same result.;)
    Will update the firmware tomorrow.....I've only blocked three sites to foil the kids and it seems to work fine except it's blocked me as well :rotfl:

    it should start with 192.168.x.x ?

    and can be found by doing

    ipconfig

    from the cmd prompt (start, run cmd)

    Thanks closed--I had wrong ip :o...trouble now is that my netgear router only allows one trusted computer....so her who rules ain't too pleased :rotfl::rotfl: Oh well, ;)
