Claiming from RM

My wife posted an item 9 days ago at our local PO which the buyer hasn't received. She always gets COP but we cannot find the one pertaining to this item. We have however found an odd one that relates to no other sale and has a printed postcode which begins II. There is no UK postcode that begins II so we think this must be the missing receipt / COP. Does anyone have any similar experience of a mistake made at PO and are they likely to accept this COP if we need to put in a claim?

Thank you

Thought as much. Will have to check when we get them handed in future. Annoying when posting multiple items at once.

Not even sure how it has accepted the postcode as usually if there is an issue, such as counter clerk can't read my terrible handwriting and puts in a non existent postcode, I am asked to confirm details as machine doesn't recognise postcode.

  • I was really annoyed at the PO the last time I sent a few items. I asked them for proof of postage, which they normally add the post code & building number too, but after I left I saw they hadn't included that info.
I wish they'd go back to letting us fill in the old COP.
  • My P.O. just hands me the receipts, I fill in the Name/postcode myself.
Have claimed a dozen losses this year and received a cheque each time.
If your receipt has the correct day and weight then I see no reason why you can't use it, just write the postcode on yourself.

    Ah, good to know, ta!

Just get a pad and take them in pre filled. I'm sure they won't refuse to stamp them.

Could the postcode be LL printed in lowercase as ll ?

I used to do that, but I got told that they were no longer valid by the PO.

The post code was supposed to be LL yes, this was our first thought. All our other receipts however are printed in upper case.

The I are definitely upper case i as opposed to lower case l though. Probably an input mistake by the counter staff

They're lying, you can print them yourself:
