EVERYBODY was made aware of this at the outset.

Indeed I posted about it on 16th September and some discussion took place as a result.

This thread >> Discount Codes 'n Vouchers > £5 Tesco voucher Daily Mail Rewards Club

    >>> https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3284392

has been running since the Mail Reward scheme started - 9th June 2011

and my posts and others' regarding the additional Xmas Rewards as soon as they were announced.

So it's not as though they changed the rules.
Indeed MOST of the rewards have conditions & restrictions
Tesco only lasts 3 months from issue, "HIGH ST" is ONLY ONE per transaction
Actually, the TV advert stated £25 to spend in Zavvi so it was misleading. I do intend to take this up with the ASA.

And before anyone says "but it was stated in the above post" that was over 1000 posts in. I'm not going to look thorugh all those posts to find out that the tV advert was, in fact, misleading

I too was shocked to find that I could not spend this voucher on what I wanted. It must have been extremely small print and I feel really conned. Why on earth did The Mail or zavvi think I would want the tat they are offering that they can't get rid of any other way. I will certainly be complaining. I could have had 3 meals for two for Pizza Express for the same tokens worth 80 odd quid. Wish I'd worked it all out beforehand now.

    Sorry but hardly SMALL PRINT

This (below) has been here since day one of the Xmas promotion (indeed actually existing for at least 3 weeks before the closing date by which you had pick the Xmas reward you wanted IF participating) and it is hardly "buried"

On the Welcome to The Mail Rewards Christmas Club! page .......

    https://mailrewardsclub.mailonline.co.uk/WeekendClub/christmas-rewards

(incidentally this is a link that I've included every Saturday & Sunday - under DAILY MAIL & MAIL ON SUNDAY headings - in the DAILY posted NEWSPAPER SUMMARY threads that I create)

....... there is A BOLD UNDERLINED HEADING

What can I spend my Zavvi.com Gift Voucher on?

Clicking on it OR Scrolling just a little further down the same page reveals

What can I spend my Zavvi.com Gift Voucher on?

Your Zavvi.com voucher can be spent on products merchandised on https://www.zavvi.com/mailrewardsclub only.
It is not valid on any other product outside this page at zavvi.com.

There are lot of amazing gifts to choose from and we think there will be something in the selection that will interest everyone. Please be aware that there are different tabs that you must click on to view all of the products. Please also note that the full voucher amount must be spent in one transaction and no change will be given. Voucher Code is single use and cannot be used with any other Voucher Code offer. See the website for full details.

Sorry but I, and indeed many others, were perfectly aware of these restrictions EVEN BEFORE the Daily Mail effectively published the 1st token for their Xmas deals.
As stated in my previous post - details about the ZAVVI deal were posted on 16th Sept (Friday) and the XMAS Rewards basically started in the Saturday 17th September edition.

    Regards .....

I'm not sure anyone would suggest the need to EVER read a thread on MSE to discover the T&Cs of a Third Party's offer ......

... especially when they were clearly displayed by the Third Party themselves .....

... it was just pointing out that others had this information and exactly when - ie. over 10 weeks ago

And I was just pointing out that the TV advert was misleading and
, indeed, Daily Mail have now agreed with me and are
issuing me with a £15 Tesco voucher instead. As stated in my previous post, we don't all have the time to keep up with posts on this website (you may do, I don't) so rely on terms being clearly explained (which they obviously were not in this case judging by the responses to theis thread) and TV adverts being truthful (which they were not in this case).

Quoia - you're dead right, and I was one of the people that moaned about the restrictions.

However in the actual Daily Mail Live pullout where the Christmas club was launched, it was the Daily Mail that allowed Zavvi's ad to feature Green Lantern on Blu Ray. In fact there were no Blu Rays whatsoever in Zavvi's promotion when it launched, which sent me straight to Flexecash, and I see that since then they only added the one Blu Ray, Kung Fu Panda 2 and not the one they plugged in print. Total shambles. I pointed this out to the Daily Mail when chasing a normal reward from Zavvi and they ignored it.

Since Zavvi has a multitude of different codes for Christmas at the same time and many of them disable the Daily Mail voucher - if it doesn't take you two months to obtain it - I'm going with something else for the pre-Christmas reward. Kudos for you for sticking to your guns (scootw1 and Shanker), I did what the OP did and complained to Daily Mail through the rewards site and in writing to Zavvi and they coughed up in the end.

If I'd been offered either of the other rewards instead of Z I'd have taken them and if this club is still going in a year's time, will stick with Tesco - at least I know they'll be there.
  • Further to the above messages, the Mail Rewards Club feels that it was clearly stated that the £25 Zavvi Reward was off a selection of items. However, Zavvi have not offered the range and quantity of offers that we anticipated.
Therefore, if you would like to swap your £25 Zavvi voucher for a different Christmas Reward, our Customer Services team have been informed to exchange it for you.
The Mail Rewards Christmas Club was designed to be a great Christmas bonus for our members and as such, do not want to disappoint!

Thanks for that. The Mail Rewards club has been a very good rewards scheme so good to see The Mail offering something to disappointed readers.
  • Well i got the Liz Earl set this week and really delighted with it. it came 4 days after i had put my last no in. Also had 5 vouchers from them and am now am participating for my 6th.
Not bad , as I always get the Mail anyway so has cost me nothing.
I know it has nothing to do with the Zavvi rewards, but thought you should hear from a very satisfied reader.
