Daily Mail/Zavvi Christmas Rewards Club

I wish to warn everyone who was taken in by this particular Christmas Reward from the Daily Mail and Mail On Sunday and Zavvi.
They have apparently gone into some sort of partnership with Zavvi on this one. All is not what one would prefer!
I received my Voucher Code today, (21/11/11) for £25 to spend with Zavvi, except that it is not actually Zavvi as a whole.
My intention was to use the £25 voucher as part payment towards a recently released PS3 game, (Batman Arkham City), but soon realised from the instructions that came with the voucher code that the voucher only has very limited purchasing power with Zavvi and the most recently released stuff is off limits.
The instructions tell you to go to www.zavvi.com/mailrewardsclub.
If you go to via this link you will soon see that the items available are very limited and these are the only things you can exchange for. In fact I would go as far to say, regarding all of the entertainment items such as DVDs, BluRay and Games, most or all of it is old stock that they are "flogging off" and using the Mail Rewards Scheme to do it.
There are exactly 6, what you would call gaming console items and none of them are for PS3, (they are for XBox, Nintendo Wii and DS only).
I have complained to the Daily Mail and Zavvi and when I spoke to a guy at the Daily Mail he admitted that I was not the first person to complain on exactly the same subject.
The initial response that I have had was from :: Name removed due to MSE privacy policy - MSE Forum Team :: at the Daily Mail Rewards department. She almost immediately hid behind the small print.
Evidently the terms and conditions at the outset when picking the reward I wanted for Christmas gave me the opportunity of reviewing what was on offer, although if this had been made plain that only a limited number of items that were not the latest releases were for sale, I would definitely not have bothered.
What exactly were the Mail and Zavvi thinking? That people want old stuff to give as presents? Zavvi's prime selling point is their entertainment range, i.e. CDs, DVDs, BluRay and Electronic Gaming. Surely they didn't believe for a second that customers wanted to buy titles that could have been bought upto and over 12 months previously, to give as presents?!!
This why I feel that I have been conned, by both the Daily Mail and Zavvi.
I have demanded that even if the £25 be reduced, I want the reward converted away from Zavvi, (I suggested Tesco who will sell me what I want).
If any of you feel the same then I urge you to phone the Daily Mail on either 08442 439 439 or alternatively, 020 7938 6000 - choose option 3 and demand to speak to :: Name removed due to MSE privacy policy - MSE Forum Team :: and complain in the strongest possible terms - threaten the Trading Standards if you have to.
Do not take this sitting down!
I have been promised a call back tomorrow morning, (Tuesday, 22 November). I haven't a clue what will be offered, (or not), but I will report back to this thread.

I too was shocked to find that I could not spend this voucher on what I wanted. It must have been extremely small print and I feel really conned. Why on earth did The Mail or zavvi think I would want the tat they are offering that they can't get rid of any other way. I will certainly be complaining. I could have had 3 meals for two for Pizza Express for the same tokens worth 80 odd quid. Wish I'd worked it all out beforehand now.0

I have now contacted the Daily Mail and await their reply but I'm not hopeful of a result. Feel so let down by what was becoming an excellent rewards scheme.0

Would like to point out their advert on TV for this as found here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kK5UY-_Vlrw
This clearly shows Kung Fu Panda 2 bluray which isn't even on the list of items available so looks as if they have backtracked on this0 -
I have just had a look at a selection of the DVDs on offer. Take the Royal Family. Zavvi price £29.99. Tesco price £17.97. I feel robbed.0

I feel exactly the same way. What an absolute con. I absolutely agree that they have gone into partnership with this. None of the gifts were any use to me. What a load of rubbish. I feel totally conned. I am going to complain as well.0

Good news from my corner guys!
It shows that complaining works!
The Daily Mail have contacted Zavvi on my behalf and they have initially expanded the list of items so that I can order what I wanted but have been told that they have to make their list more comprehensive and open.
I have ordered Batman Arkham City on PS3 which was not available for the Christmas Rewards Scheme until this morning.
Follow my lead, tell the Daily Mail what you want and demand that they do something about it.
First of all the Mail offered me a £15 Tesco voucher instead but they assured me that they would get a result in the following few days, so I gave them the chance.
Zavvi will deny that they are flogging of old stock using the Rewards Scheme as a tool or vehicle to do it, but just ask them to point you to the newly released titles that are available on the scheme - I'll bet there aren't many!
Please let me know how you all go on0 -
no received a reply from them so will need to contact them again0
-
They have now come back to me and said they can't swap the reward for any other. Seems like the rules change depending who you talk to0

If you want to contact me please let me know and somehow we can sort out how we do it.
I can provide you with the contact but the forum will not allow me to publish it here.
as I said the person at the Daily Mail was prepared to exchange the Zavvi £25 "reward" for a Tesco £15 reward, but she did say she would approach Zavvi first.
My order has now been confirmed as on it's way.0 -

EVERYBODY was made aware of this at the outset.
Indeed I posted about it on 16th September and some discussion took place as a result.
This thread >> Discount Codes 'n Vouchers > £5 Tesco voucher Daily Mail Rewards Club
>>> https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3284392
has been running since the Mail Reward scheme started - 9th June 2011
and my posts and others' regarding the additional Xmas Rewards as soon as they were announced.
Actually, having looked at the rewards, with the exception of the new LIZ EARLE £44 :rotfl: Gift Set .........
NOTHING HAS CHANGED - EXCEPT they've made 3 of the rewards "CHEAPER" to obtain
7 from 8 could get you a £5 card for Tesco, Zavvi or the Mail's own "HIGH ST" Club card .....
NOW you can get for just 19 (from 21) ...
£15 TESCO - would have been 21 codes for 3 x £5
£20 "HIGH ST" - would have been 28 codes for 4 x £5
£25 ZAVVI - would have been 35 codes for 5 x £5UPDATE
Unlike the normal £5 Zavvi reward ...... there are RESTRICTIONS
THIS SPECIAL £25 reward CAN ONLY be redeemed on specific Zavvi items
THESE HERE >>> https://www.zavvi.com/mailrewardsclub
So it's not as though they changed the rules.
Indeed MOST of the rewards have conditions & restrictions
Tesco only lasts 3 months from issue, "HIGH ST" is ONLY ONE per transaction
